Reversing light switch is on top of the transmission, but to get at it you'll need to remove battery & battery tray. The plug can then be removed from the switch - probably needs to be squeezed to get it to release. The switch should show continuity (if you have a meter) when reverse is selected. If not, then the switch, which is a plunger, can be unscrewed and replaced.
I don't know if the switch supply is a full 12v or whether it is a lower voltage signal to the Berlingo's brains, but either way you'll be looking for a supply to the switch when the ignition is on.

In addition to the above use a meter to check for voltage at the reverse light bulb connection : it is quick and easy and may save battery removal etc.

As oilyrag photo shows, the switch is just beside the blue multiplug, the one near the frayed wire loom.

Yellow arrow is switch. Should be continuity when reverse is engaged.
