Central LCD panel flashing
#1
Wink
Hi all, my first post here,
I've just bought a Berlingo 1.6 Diesel Multispace (2017) and the central LCD panel is constantly flashing (date 2007 etc), so I tried to change it with the steering wheel control (image) but this didn't work at all. Then after pulling out the very cheap aftermarket head unit I noticed there was a stray cable hanging down from the central LCD panel.

So I can only assume this is the problem..however there is nowhere to plug it in on the head unit.
If I was to purchase a better head unit would there be somewhere to plug the cable into?

Any help much appreciated!

It can be changed with the RH vol+ vol- stalk providing you don't turn the key

Press and hold source then the seek + - and vol + - navigate the menu

*Your headunit change has been done on the cheap as you'd need a connects2 interface for proper controls

Hi, thanks for your swift reply!
I've tried the stalk a few times without turning the key and it doesn't do anything Sad
Is this because that cable hasn't been connected?

Sounds like the central display has lost its permanent live feed and is in a continual state of flux... in that each time you start the car it is as if it has been disconnected and needs resetting. If it is an aftermarket head unit the correct wiring loom may not have been used.

You'd be best to find the wiring diagram for the head unit and also the vehicle. I'm sure someone on here has a wiring diagram to follow.

ok thanks, looks like I'll replace the head unit.

Any suggestions on a mid range unit that's compatible with a 1.6 Diesel Multispace (2017)?

Also would I still need need a connects2 interface?

You need the connects2 interface for any non-Citroen head unit as most of the in-dash controls for the trip computer software, are built into the original (OEM) stereo unit.

The issue is the vehicle uses CANBUS comms from all controls and between all devices - including the OEM stereo which acts as the gateway for the trip computer and the clock / date functions, so aftermarket units have no CANBUS or do not understand the Citroen CANBUS message coding, even if they did.

Ok thank you!! Is it something I could easily fit myself judging by my photos here?

Sorry for not responding sooner, yeah the connects2 sita between the oem plug and the head unit. No more difficult than any wire or plug you have already

Thank you Chris, would the cable hanging down from the top LCD (see pic) remain disconnected?

do you have aux input? check the glovebox for aux jack (or rca inputs), if yes then that cable (the one that is disconnected) is for the aux input
