Treading on accelerator & brake at same time
#11
Well on my 2012 B9 HDi, when I was on the throttle and tried left foot braking, the engine cut to zero immediately, I tried several times and it will not continue to rev if the brake is pressed.

Maybe your dual brake switches aren't working Buki?

Try touching the brake while already driving on the throttle. As it also knows whether you're in gear or not....maybe sitting in neutral, it doesn't work.

I also checked when the car is in motion, not just in neutral when parked. The brake pedal switch is working fine.

I wonder why there is such a difference ...

Could be it depends whether you have a cruise control capable ECU. EDC17C10 for example. If you have an EDC16C3x then it maybe doesn't work.

Tried it on my car, moving at approx. 25mph keep the accelerator pressed but gently brake, nothing happens for a second or two then the acceleration stops and the mult function display flashes up "Anti Pollution Fault" with a bleep.

As soon as you take your foot off the brake the accelerator woks again and the message on the display disappears.

Mine's not doing this,
Maybe mine has a fault with the pedal switches.
A knackered clutch switch might cause computer to assume "heel & toeing"
For the computer to assume muppet pedals Tongue , it would need to detect the accelerator pushed, brake pushed & clutch not pushed, to cut power.

Yes, I would imagine a faulty pedal switch would stop it working.

My car has ESP fitted if that makes any difference.

I had a closer look today, and you are bang on.
Tangle the pedals and three seconds later the engine management cuts the throttle.
Pity, as one third of a second would have been perfect.

Locally, one corner coming off Dartmoor has a 25% grade into it, and is very sharp.
Behind the dry stone wall is a 50 foot drop into the river.
Frightened the bejeezus out of me the other day, hence the question.

Thank you all for your help.  Cool
