Hi ECU issue, needs replacing.

Thumbs Down
Hi there I'm Andrea and have been a member on here from way back. [admin move to correct thread please]
My last login until today was June 2015!! Confused

I've got a problem with my 2005 Berlingo Desire 2.0 HDi, it has an ECU issue.
So it just wouldn't start one morning  Exclamation  So had it trailered to a local garage. There were a few options, one was bypassing the ECU to get it running at least, so it was the cheapest option at the time, but with diagnostics, bypass and labour, it still cost me over £600. I had an auto electrician look it over before it went to get sorted at the garage. He checked the ECU components, no ingress of water etc. he was snowed under with other work, hence the garage.
Obviously the ECU is still not working, it's not communicating with any modules etc, and it still needs fixing/replacing. The airbags are not working, the dash board lights are on.. gonna be an MOT fail   next month Huh
I've been trying to find a second hand full kit set up with all relevant bits i.e. ECU, fuse box etc, ignition and key. I know it'll be an expensive job.
It went straight through its MOT last year with no advisories. It's been a great car until this happened. It's a shame to scrap it as it's only got 95500 on the clock, great bodywork etc.
So I'll have to take it off road and fix the issue it has. There's the time to spend on it as the DVLA have revoked my licence for medical reasons so can't drive it for 12 months.
I need to get it fixed by an auto electrician whilst off road. The garage that previously bypassed it is probably next stop, cost another arm or leg.

Anyone here that can advise the best way forward/place to buy from online preferably, It's going on ebay this next week as spares or repair unless I can find a solution.

Thanks in advance, please help.  Sad

Hi, welcome!

You could try HDI Tuning, they can supply ECU's unlocked but otherwise working ok. It will depend on the actual ECU part number, but worth asking.

I've ordered one today,  hoping to get someone to fit it soon, cheers, Andrea.

For info, the original ECU is held in by a steel bracket and headless bolts (shear heads) so you need to cut a slot in the top of them with a Dremel and use a large flat blade to unscrew them.

Just wondered, did you have any luck with the ECU?
