Insulating under inner trim

Hi all

Pretty new to all this so point me in right direction if answered before

Looking to insulate my van (2012 SWB Enterprise) - been stripping it clean, but noticed there's a fair few bits of wiring behind the inner trims, especially on the back left, and what looks like an air vent (0.44 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TyXPgijQoyk)

Any idea whether covering that up with insulation, then ply, might cause any issues? I could always look to leave a few patches around it - just keen not to block any air vents, but also keep the inside nice and toasty.

It's probably an air escape so that the doors shut reasonable easily. If you use foam insulation or that thick white wadding on a roll then I guess the air will still move.

The biggest No.1 heat loss will be via the roof, followed by the main side panels & sliding door. Maybe just concentrate on those and see how you get on heat-loss wise?

Cheers - that seems reasonable. Issue is if i do the whole thing up then have to tear some stuff out again to re insulate sections - but a small section shouldn’t be an issue

While on it - anyone got any experiences with how much of the other cavities they insulated? Quite a few in the back unlike some other vans I’ve seen - but any experience on whether they’ll be a particular heat loss issue? They seem quite small so thinking no - but I know nothing John snow

First point is heat travels up by convection. An insulated roof and sides will be 90% of the solution. I don't think getting into every nook and cranny will bring much benefit. The big gains are the big areas. Roof and walls, like a house.
