Garage Bodge job
#1
I  was looking around the fuse box behind passengers headlight and noticed two loose components, these were not attached in anyway just pushed up inside. Seemed a little strange!

Bit of back story, had my cam belt done by a local garage as it was massively over due to be done. Went to collect it and when I turned it over I heard somthing snap (obviously belt or tensioner related) anyway garage initially said it could be electrical which I didn’t believe but after a few days of having it they found the chain Tensioner had failed. Luckily no damage to the engine and was fixed a week later. They fixed and covered the costs of the issue which was good but left never wanting to go back to them again.

I know they looked at the electrics and assume they just wanted to get the car out of the workshop so didn’t reassemble the electrical parts correctly, does anyone have a picture or diagram of how these parts are suppose to be mounted?

Thanks!

IIRC, that's the glowplug relay & bolts to hole with a cage nut somewhere below the headlight.

Not sure that a garage would have touched that part when doing the job above. The securing hole must be somewhere in the range of the lead but as long as it is secured is probably good enough - maybe one of the holes in the panel shown in the second pic - look for 'witness marks' where the component used to be - forensic style!
Good luck

cancunia is correct, the part you are holding in your photo is the glow plug relay and it is normally bolted to the metalwork to the right of the radiator, the caged nut is circled in my picture, the relay is on the other side.
To be honest it's a right pain to get to it in its original position so personally I would just secure it somewhere with a cable tie.

Is the fuse box cover missing?, if so you need to get that sorted.

I know they had it apart as i saw it in pieces when i went to the garage haha! They tried to tell me what I heard when I turned it over and something snapped it was electrical, maybe wishful thinking!
But yeah i was trying not to go down the route of having to take headlights off but you are right I might need to get the magnifying glass out!

Amazing! thank you for the photo aswell. It does have a fuse box cover!

I tired to take a picture but there was another loose component which  had a red clip or cap on it? you might just see it on one of the pictures i uploaded, any ideas?

Zooming in on your photo I can just make out the component with the Red clip you mention . . . that's looks like the connector plug for the headlight . . . is your headlight / indicator working?

I note snels has visited the forum a good few times since I posted my question on 23/5, the last visit being 45 minutes ago, so for some reason he/she is ignoring this thread, which is rather rude if you ask me.
