[Warning Light] No abs, oil or stop light on first key turn. 04 2.0 hdi

Hello, 

First post here. (or any forum for that matter!) I searched before posting, apologies if I missed anything). 

I have a newly acquired 04 2.0 Hdi. It starts, drives and stops well. 

On the first position of the key there's no lights showing for the abs, oil pressure or 'stop'. Not even briefly. Has anyone experienced this or similar and point me in the right direction? 

There's definitely an abs module. 
The fuse is fine. (I couldn't find a relay?) 

The eml comes on and goes off when the engine starts.

Just to check.... There are normally 3 positions for the key,

the first is Accessories . . . on my car this only turns on the battery red light on the dash.
the second position is Ignition on . . . all of the dash lights should all come on.
the third position is the spring loaded starting position.
