Hi there,

I'm not currently a Berlingo owner (previously we had a 2006 1.4) but looking at a 2011 1.6D XTR...

I've read the posts on here regarding buying etc (very informative), but I checked the MOT history of the one I'm looking at and wanted to ask specifically if these models had issues with - Suspension arm ball joints and Coil springs?

Reason I ask is because the van I'm looking at has previously failed the MOT a few times on these items.

Front suspension is not overly robust and expect ball joint/drop link/top mount/struts and broken springs during the van's lifetime. However repeated failings might suggest a heavily laden vehicle or use over poor roads . If the van has new ones of the bits mentioned then that's as much as you can ask for. Treat the parts as consumables these days and budget for replacements.

Do road humps add to the problem?

Gedling (nottingham) have recently installed some alongside some new builds which are viciously high Aztec pyramid style, even the locals don't want them.

Just noticed that Will lives in N Ireland - I live in the South - no speed humps required as the dreadful roads we share are quite enough!
But no doubt speed humps, if driven over too quickly, will eat the suspension too.
