Diagbox versions - which do I need? 7.62!
#1
For anyone wanting to carry out any Configuration changes on their Berlingo B9, then the highest version you should install, is 7.62

This covers vehicles up to 2016.

You start at 7.01...7.02...7.58 and eventually stop when you have installed 7.62 as the configuration options disappear after this version, or become OEM online only.

You will see 7.83 being widely sold online but the process does not start there when installed, the whole system is built up in layers, starting with 7.01 - so buy 7.83 by all means but don't add the updates beyond 7.62 - the updates are included as files in the software package, and have the internet disconnected at all times on the computer you install Diagbox onto, never EVER let it connect to the internet. You have been warned!

If you only want diagnostics then from 7.63 up to 7.83 works fine, but it does NOT allow any configuration changes, like replacement parts, coding Cruise Control etc.

My most usable version for my 2012 Berlingo, was 7.57 and is still my personal favorite as it has ALL configuration options available.

See below if you need to see all versions and what they included/ bugs & updates etc.

I found this table online that details the versions of DiagBox from v6 to v9 as it shows the many fixes that were applied and why, also the dates and vehicle applicable. If you have tried to do something on your Berlingo or Partner and couldn't, this table may show why and suggest the version you need to do the configuration. (thanks to the original creator - a lot of work has gone into it)

For example I rolled mine back to v7.57 last night as it offers the most configuration options over the later ones AND is the most stable after initially re-installing v7.01 then v7.02. Then I see in this table that v7.57 has an issue with the configuration of the additive pouch replacement on the B9 in this version that was corrected in v7.58 so I may jump up one step to that one in case I ever need to do the DPF fluid pouch. You get the idea.

Very useful info. Worth reading or copy/paste into a word doc for reference, so that is what I've done. Great info if you are a Lexia / DiagBox user like me. Or want to be and don't know which version to upgrade to for the car or van you have. It details the entry point and subsequent software fixes for each model & year.

One note from me is that once you upgrade past v7.62, the manual configuration options are either very well hidden, or severely reduced, or both. If you can stay at or below v7.62, I recommend 7.58 for all B9 and earlier models then you will have the most options available to you for customisation - with the exception of the B9-E (electric) as you will see they made lots of fixes to it's configuration after v7.62 and you may need to go to v7.83 or later to get all the fixes for your electric vehicle.

Also, if you have the Full-Chip Rev C Lexia interface (I have a proper PSA Actia one, I only got the software from eBay) then when you upgrade or downgrade (see my other post on downgrading to an earlier version of DiagBox if you already went too far) then it WILL attempt to update the firmware on your Lexia - mine is fine with this as all Full-Chip Rev C interfaces are, but it could brick a lesser or older one - there are notes on this page to show how to stop it doing the automatic Lexia interface update or "downdate" - though that may stop you going beyond a certain software version if the interface firmware does not support the later version. Old Lexia clones are most at risk with this.

Best advice, unless your vehicle is newer than 2016 or so, stick to v7.58 and a Full-Chip Lexia 3 rev-C interface and you will have little or no trouble doing everything you need.

Attached is the full list of versions & options in PDF format.

Also worth noting, that if your vehicle is LATER than September 2015 then you would need version 9.xx to diagnose faults, and configuration (telecoding) is NOT possible with versions 9.xx onwards (in fact form 7.57 onwards you are not supposed to be able to code configurations or new parts) and you would need to either use Citroen, or an approved garage who have a ServiceBox contract, or buy tokens from PSA at £42 per week to use the diagnostic coding functions.
