[Warning Light] anti theft fault message
#1
Hi I've got this warning message on the dash and it's usually taking couple of goes to start however sometimes it starts ok?
I've replaced the batteries in both keys and replaced the transponder coil ring on the ignition barrel but still same.
Strange thing after replacing the coil car wouldn't start so with ignition on pressed the unlock button on key several times and then it started??
Also now when I unlock the car and hold the button the windows open (common on most cars) but never did this before and does not close windows when holding lock button.

So I'm wondering if there's a way to clear the message without diagnostic equipment or a procedure to relearn system so it starts every time?

No, and there's no connection between the lock/unlock/comfort opening of the windows, and the anti theft immobiliser part of the system, the lock and windows bit of the key needs a battery and comes from the circuit board inside it.

The security part is wireless but only uses a black plastic block in the end of the key body known as the transponder chip. Absolutely separate and not connected to the locking side of the key, or the car. It needs no battery at all to operate.

Have you had these keys open at all?

Anyway you can only reset the central locking from a known key without Diagbox software but nothing else I'm afraid. The security transponder part is unaffected and can only be reset or coded with software and requires your security pin number from when the car or van was new.

Best thing would be a scan to see what it's actually unhappy about. There are a few things involved in the security part. Comm2000 board under the steering wheel which reads the immo chip in the key,  and the BSI...which houses the immobiliser electronics.

Best guess, It could be the Comm2000 module itself perhaps that's flaky.
