#1
Hi, does anyone know what can cause a Clarion RD3-01 car stereo CD head Unit PU 2471A(J) to beep? both the radio and cd plays but it still beeps.

Not sure, you might have to scan it with Diagbox to really find out. Could be a low level issue with the radio or signal from the antenna.

I'm guessing it's a 2nd hand replacement radio so the beeping means it requires coding to the vehicle, I think the VIN of the vehicle it is now fitted to will need to be entered into the radio via diagbox.

Is it that simple to enable a 2nd hand radio?

I had assumed that if the radio didn't see it's VIN from the vehicle,
it then wouldn't cooperate with Lexia, PP2000 etc.

I'd be delighted if I was wrong. Cool

You only need to code the VIN into the new radio from your own vehicle details. It will connect fine to DiagBox etc, it will just flag a fault as incorrect VIN match until programmed.

Yes I know, but I'm not paying £70 just to get it decoded.

Don't you already have Lexia/Diagbox/PP?

I thought I saw that you did, so it wouldn't cost anything if so. If not, Diagbox doesn't cost £70 or at least it didn't used to on eBay.

No I don't have Lexia/Diagbox/PP, plus the £70 is for me to take to someone.

Much cheaper to buy Diagbox then as it's about £50 (if you hunt eBay) and you have it forever to do other stuff.

Here's a kit at £54.95:

Or...put up with the beeps!!

Your choice, we can only advise.

Or you could give this a try...  just remove a small component...
