2.0 hdi EGR valve CLIP - broken, how to bodge it?
#1
my 2.0 hdi EGR valve CLIP is half broken, how can I get it back on or bodge it?
Its the clip that holds the pipe to the EGR body

I dont have pincers! can I glue it, wrap it, modify a jubilee clip or something, so I can drive it?
Theres very little around here in the way of shops , garages etc
If its not clamped will it leak air and stop it running or harm the engine etc?

I took the valve off to clean it, but it wasn't really dirty. The vacuum operated the valve ok
Tried several times to refit the clamp with pliers etc but ended up twisting it a bit

Don't have one of these but have spent a lifetime bodging. From what I can glean from Youtube there's the possibility of removing the remains of the old clip and threading a Jubilee clip around the fitting to make everything secure.
Alternatively it is possible to buy a similar shaped clip which has a threaded screw fitting rather than the current 'clasp'.

If it is the funny little pipe clip the same as on a 1.9 then I cought a very cheap pair of pincers and cut a groove in the centre. It made fitting the clip a doddle.

I did buy a new clip and it was of a different design. They fitted a bolt and a threaded plate

I cant paste a picture but I found one here

- this shows the new design. I bought mine from the Citroen dealer

I'd avoid using the mole grips, chances are they'll fall off very quickly.

As noted above by @Romahomepete there's a new design, after a bit of searching on eBay, I came up with the following, there are no doubt others as well. I didn't check that these will fit your 2.0 but there are part numbers in the listing and a quick message to the sellers will hopefully confirm. If you're still unsure you could look on catcar.info using your vin and find the correct part number that way.:

I got a hose clip (off a hose) on there now
Its a solid(ish) connnection

IF there is a leak, will it affect performance a lot?
Or damage anything?

Thanks for the links, looks like the right one, I'll be able to check it.
It would help immensely if they gave the dimensions
