Bought myself another M59 - a 2003 2-litre HDi. Just as I did for the other identical 2004 M59, I added the cruise control stalk (without speed limiter), switched it on via my laptop but cruise doesn’t work. It worked straight away in my other car. Am I missing something, perhaps? The correct brake switch for instance.
Could be many things. Clutch switch, brake dual switches, even the instrument cluster I'm sure on some models can block the cruise activation.
Maybe try using the cruise button then see if it flags any faults in the BSI or ECU.

Check live data for missing brake or clutch signal, do you get a cruise symbol in the clocks display, what version are you using (7.62 or 7.63 is best) and finally does the vehicle have a fully electronic throttle pedal or is it cables.
After that, my crystal ball is out of batteries.

AFAIK, it should work on the M59 without problems. It is possible that one of the switches is missing, so as mentioned above, you can try the actuator tests which will allow you to see if the clutch & brake switches are working & the CC stalk is being detected.
There is another screen on Lexia which shows the CC type, but I think if you have that wrong, there will be other problems.
@benoliver999 did a good write-up of his CC adventures.

That's the ticket. Check for cruise switch detect, clutch & brake too, and do a "global scan", see if any controllers flag an issue anywhere. Not just engine ECU fault codes.

Well… it’s all there. Tested all the functions with Lexia and it’s all working and switched on. Still nothing. I swapped the brake switch from my other car and cruise control worked the first time but wasn’t working again when I went for a drive this evening. I hopped in the old car and cruise works perfectly in that, even with the other brake switch. Everything is fitted properly, all aspects secure and plugged in. I’m at a loss! Trying to think what else I can swap with the car with working cruise. Throttle position sensor?
Please note, all activities must be carried out through the open window, do not open any door until the process is complete. The steps above are correct but fail to make clear the reason for dropping the drivers window. It's so you can lean in to operate the following actions after reconnection of the battery, without opening any doors which would trigger the BSI to boot up before the reset has been completed.
