My Pug Partner had an annoyingly noisy offside headlight - I'd read a little bit about the issue on here but no cure other than full headlight replacement as the levelling adjuster is inside the sealed housing.
I'd disassembled and cleaned the contacts on the dashboard leveling switch to no avail.
I became completely frustrated with the racket it was making and attacked the housing with a drill. I drilled two 10mm holes in the back of the housing and sprayed some WD40 in. Unfortunately this had the effect of splashing onto the inside of the glass area. With nothing to lose I followed this with a good blast from brake cleaner to wash the Wd40 away.
This worked and after leaving the brake cleaner to evaporate the headlight is virtually silent when levelling and doesn't chirp or moan when in position 0.
Bit of a bodge but it worked. I'll post some pics if anyone else has the same problem.
