Hi everyone,
Well I've had my 2016 HDi XTR for just over a week now and I am absolutely thrilled with it.
Apart from just one annoyance!
The 7 inch touch screen tablet automatically shuts down to conserve battery power after the engine is turned off. Is there any way to override this feature?
I like to sit in the car listening to the radio if I'm waiting for someone. It's very frustrating when it keeps turning off automatically! I've never had that happen in any car I've ever owned or hired before!
It's a shame there are only two positions on the ignition switch. Normally position 1 activates the audio, position 2 turns on the ignition and finally position 3 fires the engine. But on mine if I come to a standstill in the car and turn the engine off it kills the audio. Then you have to turn the key to turn the ignition back on to listen to the radio. Then I can listen for between 5 and 15 minutes before it all suddenly goes off again!
Very frustrating!
Has anyone been able to override this?
I can't believe listening to the radio would drain much battery power - never has on any of my previous vehicles.
Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It's the built in ECO mode, you can extend it to 30 mins with Diagbox, but not disable it.

What is Diagbox please? Is it something I can do myself? If so. step by step guide would be great. Thanks!

Search the forum and YouTube for Diagbox
- it's software for laptop, takes a bit of pc handiness to install it and it's powerful, you can break stuff with it. Kits available from eBay for £50 upwards.
Need the interface and the software, not just the software itself. Normal OBD interfaces are no use. Had to be the Actia Citroen adaptor. Best to get the kit.
I did a write up on the various versions and what they cover...it's in how-to section.
But, it's important not to be afraid to get or use it, the thing is, this is the exact same system Citroen dealers have, so it's well worth getting if you plan on coding functionality or doing regular deep diagnostic stuff. You can code window roll up functions from the keys, add on new parts, DPF regens, all sorts of things.

I know you said "not to be afraid". But to tell the truth I'd be very afraid! I don't want to change anything else on the car - other than the short time out period, it's perfect for me.
Would it be worth taking it into the Citroen main dealer and getting them to change it to the half hour time out? Is it something they would do for me do you reckon? I don't mind paying as I really miss the radio while waiting in the car.

This is a possibility. The caveats are, first they don't understand what you want or how to do it, second they do but charge several hundred pounds to do it...
If I were you, I'd try asking them, and post back the response. I expect they'll say "no idea what you're on about" as they are always as thick as mince.
There could be someone near you who has Diagbox and is competent in using it. Therein, lies the problem.

I will email my local Citroen dealer to ask. Might just be lucky and get someone who is well into programming!
Will keep you posted.

Just a quick bit of info - a repeat of what I have just posted on the "touch screen issues" thread.
Took my vehicle to Citroen main dealer as the touch screen kept rebooting itself. They updated the software and I now get 20-25 minutes listening to the radio with engine switched off. So I'm happy with that. Cheers. Vivian
