Clutch pedal and cable linkage

Hello all,

My clutch cable broke on Friday evening so I'm waiting for a new cable to come on Monday and decided to have a look at the clutch pedal and that appears to be where the break has happened at the little white plastic boyo.

But I've seen alot of stuff about a spring Clamp that holds the plastic boyo in place and mine doesn't seem to have one. Is this normal on this model? I've attached a picture to show my pedal.

It looks to have broken off - is the white piece in the pic amongst the general fluff part of it. You'd expect something like this on the end of the cable.    
I'd have expected a securing clip - so have a search around as the replacement may not have one!

My assumption would have been that the spring loaded Clamp would have been in the footwell but it's not. The other piece of the plastic section was there. I've fitted the new clutch cable (which surprisingly was one of the easiest jobs I've ever done on the van) and it's working so I don't know. There might have never been one there before but I don't think I'll ever know now

Well, a great result anyway and no point losing sleep over it.
