Hinged Roof Flap
#1
Hey chaps, lasses, my Berlingo First van has the rear roof flap option fitted.
Recently I tried to lift it and the plastic hinges broke, I sure wish I had used WD40
on them first.
So, any fixes or even is there a replacement  part and if so how is it possible to reattach it? looks impossible.
Thank you in advance for any information you may have.
Regards
Anthony.

I've never seen this option in person. Is it possible to screw metal hinges across the plastic "hinges" to restore the function? These rear roof pods will be pretty rare now I'd think.

You need to go onto Catcar to find out what the parts are

Apart from buying a replacement, without a photo is difficult to tell how it can be fixed. I have had quite a few plastic parts broken, which I have managed to fix with a hot staple tool. The staples get imbedded in the plastic and serves as backbone, somewhat similar to rebar in concrete.

Perhaps worth a try if you cannot find a replacement, see here: https://youtu.be/2DO9pG9BUf8
The hot staple gun is fairly cheap on ebay for example.

Loving that hot staple gun but the material the hatch is composed of is rock hard and now after 15 years has become brittle.
I've repaired my lads punctured footballs before using a hot knife and other items of plastic too.
I'll see if I can work out how to post pics for you.
Thank You
Anthony.

I repaired my wife's whole 307 bumper with these staples (new ~£400). All possible plastic tabs had broken and it was dangling, but now 1 year later, still rock solid.
Yes, depending on the type of plastic with time it can become brittle. Then it is a bit difficult to do anything with it.

It was quite an expensive option as I recall, I've had her from new, 15 years ago.
I have looked at the problem and it seems as though it will be almost impossible to replace the brackets the flap hinges on, now if that flap is fully detachable from the hinges then I can just try and source another flap, is it detachable, does any one know or can anyone find out?
Thank You
Anthony.

Catcar? Not heard of this I will Google it see what I can dig up.
I could hassle my Citroen parts dept and see what I can get from them.
Thanks

You can put your VIN or look specific models and it will give you the part numbers.

Well I've found out so far it's called the roof trap, not flap.
Not having much luck otherwise.
I had really hoped someone else had suffered a similar issue and then had the magical answer for a fix.
