Hello good people.

Need to share my day today regarding attempt to replace timing belt,till now i couldn't install new belt on,have cut my right hand,throw everything to hell,and left home.

I am working as marine engine mechanic,replacing such belts on engines which i even don't see timing marks,doing it with rearview mirror in my hand,and still succesfully doing such job almost ten years now.

And then one french engine makes me crazy,it is insane,just insane. New parts are for same engine,belt has 141 teeths,and i can't fit it to pulleys,no way Jose.

One of worse jobs i ever did have,and for sure last citroen in my hands,french engineering at it's worst for sure,feeling sorry that i didn't left him as it was,did break my own word that i will not change that belt,and now i have it.

It is that SOHC engine,90hp,2016. is the van,not sure what to post more,my apologise for opening thread because other threads do exist on same subject,just not sure if same problem other people did have. All new parts are like old ones,water pump,idler pulley,tensioner(which is also one unknown for me,but this later on),if anyone can share some wisdom why new belt doesn't fit,would be a life saver for sure.

Thank so much everyone,have taken some medicine to get my s**t together,this convinced me,beside other problems with citroen,that will be last one that i own,this is so true.

3 possible options that I can think of - incorrect belt supplied/ordered , belt routing not as it should be,  tensioner not being slackened off correctly. There are diagrams of the belt routing on the net and the belt type you have will have a part number which you can also double check.
From what I can see the belts available are 141 teeth so it points to the other issues. Ther are also Youtube videos that may shed some light on how the belt should go on and none seem to feature blood or bandages!

I did check that all parts matched the old ones,all is correct,probably is just belt so tight that i can't install it correctly. Videos do exist yes,there always goes fast,little help from that,i know how it needs to fit yes,but just today no luck as it seems,need to continue battle tommorow again.
