Noise Automatic Gearbox EAT8
#1
Hello,

I have a '22 Berlingo 1.5 HDI EAT8 gearbox, and I can hear some rattle noise on EAT8 gearbox while acceleration on 7TH gear only.

If I reduce to 6TH or engage 8TH it will not make any strange noise.

Is this a normal thing on 7TH gear or I have a damaged gearbox...?

Thank you.

And if you reduce to 6TH gear or change to 8TH gear, it's quieter, right?

Really strange thing. I thought the 7TH was damaged, if your is same, so it should be normal thing.

Hi there.

My berlingo has been doing this noise in 7th (and in some circumstances in 5th) since new. I don't remember it being so loud, o maybe now I'm more aware since I'm paying more attention. The noise in 7th sounds more like air intake or something different to gearbox itself since driving without throttle doesn't make any noise. Also, when the gearbox is cold and gears are still not engaging fully, the noise is not present. It is when the gears fully engage and only when light to medium throttle.

Did any of you get to know anything else relate to this? Thank you.

Hello,

I have still not reported it, but as the car is on warranty, I will report it, it seems to make on odd gears (5, 7).

The gears are not fully engaging? Are you sure? How many miles have your car? Have you changed the gearbox oil?

This AISIN Gearboxes seems to be good, however it's better to report it, as it is not normal.

Mine was bought in late january 2021. That winter and this 2022 winter, when it was freezing overnight (mine sleep in street), that always have been the behaviour from day one. Maybe I did't explain myself properly (i'm spanish sorry for bad english). In this other topic they talk about the cold slipping for the eay8 https://www.peugeotforums.com/threads/30...ld.331256/. Supposed a normal behaviour to protect the gearbox when cold and to warm up faster. In this other topic https://www.clubpeugeot.es/topic/38237-f...ent=353207 they talk about it as well. I link to a comment where there is a video showing the revs not matching the speed.

I have not changed the gearbox oil. It currently has 25000 kms. According to official maintenance, gearbox it is not serviced lifetime. But according to aising it should be done at 60000kms, which i will do in a specialied gearbox workshop

Have you reported it? Mine can get a bit noisy on the fifth gear when between 1800-2000 rpm, it seems more noticeable than higher gears on bigger rpm
