Hello, some help and advice would be very appreciated. The 55 plate Partner 1.9 was not charging the battery and light coming on after 10 seconds of driving plus slowing down wipers, left it for a week, then asked the AA to come over to diagnose, they said alternator. My local garage said a week and a half until they can look at it as busy, so said to the AA man I'll sort it later and not get it towed anywhere.
Decided to have a go at doing it, went out bought a new alternator yesterday. Removed the front wheel, plastic, have removed one of the alternator bolts on the wheel side. Ok the other has the sprung belt tensioner in the way. This has an 8mm hexagonal allen key type for removal. The 8mm allen thing doesn't seem to want to turn. Would some oil pored over it help? Do you need to remove this tensioner to remove the other outside bolt, or can it be levered up with a bar and the bolt removed? Many thanks
