K9 bicycle platform boot rack
#1
Hello everyone,

I am looking around for a platform boot rack for our Berlingo K9 (the car does not have a tow bar/rack). Does anyone know of a standard fitting solution? Or maybe, similarly to the previous model (https://timbarry.co.uk/fiamma-berlingo-bike-rack/), there is some customization possible of non-specific bicycle racks? Would appreciate any information.

If you don't need all 3 rear seats, then bikes roll in easily and stow with their wheels on. Hardly take up any room.

A word of caution. If you fit a non approved part or make your own modification your insurance company might have something to say about it.

Just imagine if a bike came off your modified rack and struck a pedestrian on the kerbside or caused damage to following traffic.

I think the days of such clever application of own skills are no longer supported.

You have to ensure your insurance company actually covers the carrying of bikes on a rack and whether they accept on cover, the potential for an injury or damage to another vehicle by a bike coming loose while driving.

Seems to be patchy, some companies do not cover this at all, some say it is under "other" clauses, but unless they agree beforehand, I expect they would easily wriggle out of covering this, leaving the driver personally liable. This is from info provided by other users on a mountain biking forum.

Sadly not with the modutop fitted - have to lay mine sideways at an angle

Look at Paulchen solutions. It fits also with cars that have boot door spoiler. For more info contact them!
