Hi,
I am new here. I am the proud owner of a 1997 Dutch 2 doors delivery van. I would like to travel with 3 persons in this van, to play with my band. As far as I know, there are no 2 seats banks available for this van (only from 2008 up). Are there any solutions, that are easy, cheap and safe ? Can anyone help me with this ?
Thanks in advance.
Vincent (Holland)

Hi Vincent, have moved your thread to the correct location (M49 vehicles) - there was a car version of the van so the rear seats and seatbelts should be able to retro fit from a 1996-2003 Berlingo car.

Well Vincent, it will be worth checking with your insurer and the local vehicle test station that such changes are permitted. If there is no easy exit from the van - ie easily accessible doors that open from the inside, say in the event of an accident or fire then it's likely that it would not conform.
Here in Ireland I had some trouble by having a seat removed from the rear row - as the reg docs show 5 possible passengers/seats/seatbelts and the conversion I have has only 4.... each time at testing there's a fuss & confusion but eventually I get a pass ticket.

I've carried people in the cargo area of my old van before - years ago. No seats required! Not particularly comfortable, but OK for short distances. Not sure of the legality of it, but if it's allowed then all part of the gigging experience!

The wheelchair M49 I saw in a breakers had 1 extra seat in back if I remember right so is possible to get a rear single seat. Just the hassle with vehicle conformity / insurance
