Driver side electric window intermittent
#1
With the arrival of the damp weather it seems my driver side window has become intermittent in operation.

Is the "green" relay I've read about a good place to start?

Are they the sort that can be taken apart to re-solder the joints as in certain other makes like Skoda/VW?

Is there any other "common" failure point similar in nature to the BSI relay failure of the central locking relay, but for the drivers window?

Many thinks for your received wisdom.

The windows will be controlled by the BSI in the same way as the central locking is.

If it is one window only, it's worth checking the switch but I expect the BSI relay OR the wiring harness to the door itself, will be worth investigating.

Mine did the same, there's a thread on here from a few years back about the issue. It might well be the 'green relay' controller that sits near by the accelerator pedal.

Mine would sometimes allow the window to go down but not up again unless I turned the ignition off & on again.

No problem, just remembered that mine also did it when cold / damp but not in summer!

I found the thread mentioned but it does not seem to provide a definitive answer.

The frustrating thing is that it currently works more than it doesn't and of course when I have time to spare to investigate it works !

Try a standard BSI reset?

Can you post a link to the thread that you found?

I think that I never did fix mine, it simply worked when the weather was warm enough to want the window down. The few times I had a problem, I stopped the engine and when I restarted the window would go back up. It's been a while since I had the car with the problem so could be wrong but I think it's the 'one touch' control box that's faulty.
