Fan speed control.
#1
The speed control switch is intermittent. It's the one with just three different length lines instead of numbers and if you jiggle it when on the fan works then doesn't. So presume it's this switch that's faulty as have changed transistor pack on fan. Is it easy to get the switch panel out? To maybe change this control.

I think the short answer is that it's possible but fiddly. There are some threads on here about changing the bulb in the control unit and to do that you need to almost take the unit out. There are some notes in the threads about making sure you mark the cable positions.

I have only replaced the bulbs behind the heater control panel and this is how I did it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJKvvFs37OE
I have not removed the whole control unit, but as far as I remember there were a few bolts and one can take it apart.

@saskak - great tutorial mate, I had not realised the M59 was so awkward in this area, the B9 is so much simpler. Your videos are excellent.

You should put a how-to post up in that section (call it M59 how-to videos etc), list all of your videos in it, and I will sticky it for you at the top.

Haha, thank you for the good words. I made a mistake in that video, I had 2 bulbs that had failed and I replaced them and closed everything up. No surprise, not soon after the third one went. I cannot be arsed to replace the third one now, maybe some day.

I only film whetever I have done and I thought there was not a howto guide or I did not quite get how it was done by other people. I am not one for blowing my own trumpet, people eventually find them by searching.

Having watched the whole video, can you not change it by feel now, using the socket and tape, just with the stereo out? Since you know what you're feeling for and where it is. Or is there not enough room with the front trim fitted?

The slot is way too small for my hand with the trim on, maybe someone with smaller hands will do it better.
