Hi,
Citroen Berlingo 2006, 1.4 Petrol, 65k miles.
Just had the yellow engine management light come on, and my OBD II scanner reader is showing code P1161, but I can't seem to find too much about this code. I have cleared the code now, the van seems to run ok at the moment and the code has not reappeared yet.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

P1161: EGR throttle position copy signal : Valve jammed.
This is the official definition from Citroen.

You'd have to locate and clean / test / repair the EGR valve, it must be somewhere between the exhaust manifold and intake. No idea exactly where on the petrol engine though.
Normally this is a diesel fault, less likely in a petrol engine as they don't produce the sticky gum that diesels do. But, not impossible. They still often have EGR valves but I don't know the Citroen petrol 1.4 to that detail I'm afraid.

My earlier 1.4 has the same engine and there is no EGR - I'd ignore the code as an issue if it doesn't come back and the engine is running well!

There you go, another reason not to use generic code readers on Citroen's.
I must admit I'm not so clued up on petrol engines having had nothing but diesels for 20 years.
