Hi
#1
I had a 06 Lingo for the passed 4 years and loved it. Now traded it in for a 2013 model, HDi 1.6.
Can any of you recommend best lateral roof bars for it? I have seen some with just cross bars in place of lateral. What would you recommend?

Hi and welcome.

Depends what you want to use them for. Crossbars for carrying sheets and other builder type loads, longitudinal ones for looks and with the proper wingbars across those, also loads can be carried. OEM ones are the only choice for me, as the aftermarket ones are chocolate.

But OEM XTR ones are £400 new and like hen's teeth second hand. Scour eBay and check them carefully.

Here's mine with them fitted: (should look like these, large end caps)

Thanks for the tip. Looking at your bars, they only have 2 fixing points. Mine has three. I’ll see if I can post a photo.

All of the vehicles have three fixing points. The OEM XTR roof rails like mine, fix only at the ends. The three sets are for the cross bar type that don't clamp on to the OEM rails.

eBay aftermarket ones often have three fixings but are pure rubbish, rated at 30kg total load and the factory ones are 75kg each.

I found some on s/h Citroen rails on ebay. Coming Monday.

I will need to find fixings. There was a thread discussing this, but cannot find it again.

Any idea what type of thread bolts I will need and where to get them?

The proper bolts are needed, they are broad flat head  torx M8 of an exact length to lock into the holes. I think they have a slight taper as I tried normal M8 and they jammed up immediately before going in properly.

The bolts are probably inside the end caps. If you got them from a breaker. Both my last two sets had them included.

The foot covers sit slightly proud of the roof (May 5-6mm) was wondering if it it wise to leave or fill with some sort of black rubber?

That's the factory bolts.

I'll check how far up my covers sit, but I wouldn't fill it  with anything...that would look really naff! (Unless you're a dab hand with the filler)
