[Engine] Engine cutting out

Hi all, this is my first time on a forum so hopefully someone can shed some light on my issue. 
I’ve got a 2009 Berlingo van 1.6 HDI diesel 
Only recently bought it so I don’t know any history on it. 
Starts fine, drives perfectly well until randomly it will literally just die. Engine just cuts out. It will then restart immediately and run again perfectly well until it will do it again, could be 100yds down the road or 30 minutes into a journey. Got the AA out to it last night and they couldn’t get any power from the diagnostic socket so therefore couldn’t read any faults. He spent an hour going through fuses and connections to get power to the socket but couldn’t find a problem.
Very frustrating as I now have no confidence in the van as it can so it at any time. 
Has anyone ever come across this before? 
Van is high mileage 195k but runs perfect otherwise.

Most likely would be the crank and cam sensors, or the fuel rail pressure sensor / regulator.

But without a proper scan, it's hard to be sure. The diagnostic socket is powered by fuse F4 (10A) mounted on the BSI computer, behind the glovebox. See the diagram below.

   

None of the engine bay fuses are involved, so no point checking those. There are several fuseboxes in different locations depending on spec, but all have at least two, one in the engine bay and the other behind the passenger side glove box. That one is also the body systems interface computer.

Like Zion suggested, crank sensors or fuel problems.

You can feed 12v from another wire to 12v ODB socket.
Just check IF OBD socket ground wire is OK.

Buy cheap obd2 socket and try to pull errors if any.
