Hi,
I have Berlingo First (2009). It stopped switching on lights when opening doors.
When there is no key in the ignition is not possible to switch on the interior lights even manually.
I have to insert the key in the ignition and switch the electricity on, then it's possible to activate the interior light manually.
Also stopped to work the red control light of the central lock. Could it be somehow related?
What could be wrong and any ideas how to fix it?

Welcome,
Have you tried to change the light switch position? There are 3 possibilities I think.
For the red light, does the central locking still work?

Sure I know the switch. We have the car since 2009.
Without key in ignition - the light doesn't work in any position of the switch.
Which is very anoying in this autumn time - you come to car, open door, it stays dark ...
.... in dark puting the key in ignition, switch on .... and then by the light switch turn the light on.
After then switch the light off manually ... very anoying.
Long story in short: "the automatic of indoor light stopped to work"
Regarding central lock - yes it works, just the red light stopped to indicate the locked status....

Try a BSI Reset.
Put the driver's window down, lift the bonnet and ensure all equipment is switched off.
Ensure all doors are closed and remove key from the ignition.
Wait for 3 minutes, disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds.
Reconnect the vehicle battery, wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors.).
Switch on the side lights through the driver's window.
Switch on the ignition and check system's functionality.
Hold lock button on key down for 10 seconds.
Remove key open & close door test central locking system.
Start the engine and complete the system's check.

I tried the BSI Reset steps. But it didn't help.
Does it make sense to try do the reset multiple times?

Might sound daft but have you switched off the load compartment light? Maybe different on the M49 but I'm sure on my van that switches off the front light as well.
My van: 2008 Berlingo 1.6 HDi Enterprise - a bit ratty!

Maybe you have a faulty BSI and there is no home repair for that. You would have to get a proper electronic repair shop who know BSI systems to have a look at it. There are specialists around but no idea about your location. Where is Blansko?

I parked the vehicle at the nearest Citroen service center. They are going to fix the light issue.
The last message from them is, that the car locked itself with the key was inside. It sounds little bit scary. Never happened to me.
They are trying to figure out, where the problem is ...

If the car is open at the front, and you press the button to open the rear doors then jump out, but haven't taken the key and do not open the rear doors within 6 seconds, the whole van locks itself.
Fatal flaw in the software that is. But it happens, I've tried it. I had my key in my hand luckily and not in the van.
Pressed rear door unlock, jumped out, shutting the driver's door and the wife started talking to me...clunk, the whole van locked itself because I had unlocked the back doors but didn't open them in time.

My Berlingo has twin side-hinged rear doors and no button to open it from interior.
So I guess it should not be the case.
