Stereo placement
#1
Hi all,

So I find it odd that my M49 Berlingo has a 'single din' slot at the top of the dash for 'storage' and a (what appears to be) 'double din' spot lower down, that has a single din unit installed in it behind a flap.

I have a few questions:

1) Is this normal?
2) Can the single DIN unit be moved up to the top space? (does the wiring reach?)
3) Is there a double DIN fascia or something for the lower part to install a double DIN unit?
4) Is there a double DIN storage pocket thing for the lower part?

Thanks in advance.

Ha ha.. I wish I knew.. my recently purchased M49 had a single MP3 unit hanging from the wiring connections in the double slot/space. It even had the radio ariel plugged in! Didn't work of course, and actually took me nearly 30 minutes to extricate it.

You make a good point though about the two spaces and the wiring. When I eventually get back to UK with this Berlingo and look to install a radio that I have in my workshop there I'll no doubt find out more..

Dave..

From photos I have seen online, it seems like the 'multispace' version of the vehicle had a single DIN unit up the top...

I have not been able to find any way to install a double DIN unit in the lower space though, sadly.

My van had this complex cd based satnav in the lower slot. When I took it all out I discovered that all the wiring for radio reaches both places so the choice is yours tbh. I’ve put mine in the top as I don’t see how you can operate it lower down. Just need to figure out what to do with the big hole with the flap on it. Was there a plastic box or something that fitted in there ?

I wish there was a large storage box or similar, but all my searches so far have turned up nothing of interest.

Get someone to 3d print a tub to fit in there for storing stuff maybe? Have a look on the 3d printing forums, someone may have done a cad for it already, or a cage to for a stereo. You never know. There are cads for B9 cupholder phone holders (if that makes sense)
