I know its a dated thread but...
Just replaced the straps on mine ,Only £30 for a pair (Fleabay) ,make sure you get the right door card clips as theres a few mimmicks on Amazon,but must admit its an easy (ish) jobtheres a few vids now on You tube.
Also whilst the door cards off I got some cheap sound deadening from Ebay (self adhesive) and stuck that to the inside skin,and it made a complete difference to the noise from the door and it also sounds heavier when you close it rather than the tinny slam you get.
I also sprayed a bit of waxoyle to the tray of the door as I noticed a slight bit of damp which could turn to rust.And lockthreaded all the bolts to the window mechanism as there prone to vibrate lose and you get the annoying rattle.
I just thought Id post this as the door card can be a fiddle to get off so just a bit of .
I just thought I'd put this on as the door card can be a bit fiddly so whilst its off get as much done in there as possible

Sorry to raise this from the dead. My door has started to make a horrible noise as described by the original poster. But it only does this when it's wet or damp or cold air. Is this likely to be the same issue or just a lubrication issue?
