Door check strap

Hi all
'64 plate XTR
Im getting a horrible loud CRACK noise when opening the drivers door.
Im pretty sure that its the check strap at fault, so I have blitzed it with lithium grease but little difference.
Do you have to remove the door card to swap one ??
Im not as handy as I used to be so will have to get someone else to do it if that is the case.....

You do need the door card off, as the check strap can only be removed by pulling it into the door cavity. It fits from the inside out. It requires the speakers and lining membrane to be removed as well. It is a bit awkward to be honest.

Please note...You can easily break the door card clips when dismantling the door card. It would be a good idea to buy some new clips before you start.

Thanks Zion. At the photos in the last post, you can see the wear on the center of the white plastic roller, this is what causes the mentioned noise. Therefore, lubricating this part does not help in any way, only replacing it with a new one.
