Likelihood is, it would have been doing a DPF regeneration and you stopped the engine while it was active.

It then has to run the fans for quite a while to cool the DPF down again - if it does this again, leave the fans to run or you could have issues with the DPF sitting at nearly 1000 degrees while parked up.

Have you not had this vehicle long? (Long enough to see it do this) as it's very common for people to stop a diesel while it was in the middle of a regen and the fans will run like buggery for quite some time..let them run. They will stop eventually. Also will smell a bit odd at the back of the vehicle while the fans are running.

If your journeys are normally longer on motorways then it probably does it's regens without you noticing.

Yeah sounds like something is actually wrong there. It would be worth getting a proper fault code scan done. If you can, then post the codes up here.

Had a good service by Citroen, cambelt and water pump, all fluids, fuel filter and oils, did mention it to them , they said to wait 2 hours before I should be worried

So the fans can run for two hours during an interrupted regen? Noted.
