Armrest
#1
can anybody tell me how to remove the fitting on the armrest please.  I am going to make one a bit longer.   I need the mechanism off so it can be transferred.

Do the spigots just screw into a fixing inside the armrest. Try gripping the large one and give it a tentative unscrewing .

I did try that but it will need more of a Molegrip grip if this is the way to go.  I don't want to mark the smooth surface so I am inclined to cut a slot in the end for a screwdriver.

It seems they are not screwed in but moulded so to remove them I applied heat and then tapped them free from behind.  I got access to the "behind" by peeling back the armrest cover.

Next stage will be to make my own armrest and fit the two pegs to it.

So do I paint this, leave it as a wood finish or cover it?

In fact I have painted it. Big Grin

Agree with cover it.  You will regret not doing so if on a long drive using the rest.

Bare wood will also attract the eyes of thieves and will make them wonder what else is of interest
