[Engine] P0192 and P1351 - Engine stalling - Anti-pollution faulty

Hello everyone.

This thread is regarding my Citroën Berlingo B9 Multispace, 2008, 1.6 HDi (90 Hp)

I've got codes P0192 (Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Bank 1) and P1351 (IDM Input Circuit Malfunction/Ignition Coil Control Circuit High Voltage).

A month ago, my engine stalled when I was driving and I got the message "Antipollution Faulty" on the display on the dashboard.
This also happened last fall, but back then I got codes P0490, P1459 and P0401, replaced the EGR valve and since then it has been running smooth.

Now, when I try to start the engine, it runs for a couple of minutes, then cuts out. Then I start it again and it won't start. Every time I get the "Antipollution Faulty"-message on the display.

Reading post and googling the internet, I'm now confused if it could be the dieselfilter, glow plug, bad battery, faulty pressure sensor, bad wiring etc. - seems like it can possibly be a lot of things.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can proceed?

Unfortunately I don't have Lexia or Diagbox, but I have a cheap Biltema ODB reader.

I can see a freeze frame on the P0192 code. On that it says the FRP was 10740.04 psi.

If you're referring to live data function.. I'm not sure if my OBD reader can measure FRP live. I will check that out when I get to my car tomorrow.

If you can see the live data, it may help to identify the problem. If your fuel pressure is dropping below a certain point, the ECU will stop the injectors.

Your generic reader isn't exactly right on the meaning of those codes. The official definition from Citroen is as below:

P0192 = Fuel pressure signal : Short circuit to earth

P1351 =  Pre-heating relay circuit : Coherence ; Relay supplied and glow plugs not supplied

So the P1351 is not so much the issue - more importantly is no signal from the FPR (and it may be intermittent) so when it drops out, the engine will cut out immediately. I'd be looking at the fuel pressure sensor / regulator itself and the wiring. The plug is very awkwardly placed, down the back of the engine under the fuel rail & behind a bracket. It's a pig to reach.

I've attached the short Citroen tech guide to help  troubleshoot this issue where the engine stalls. Mainly it shows the codes you would get and a short pointer list of items to check. It's basic but is meant to home in on the expected areas.

Last night I checked my OBD reader and it has a live function for FRP.
I fmade a short video that shows what happens when I turn on the engine and give it a little rev up in neutral gear.. it stalls almost immediately.
I will try and upload the video later today.

Does sound very like the FPR is faulty. Looking forward to seeing the video, maybe we can advise further. Should read around 290-300 bar at idle, up to 1800 bar at full tilt.

Ok so just divide by 100 to get Bar from kPa, it shows roughly 300 at idle, jumps about a wee bit, 290 to 306 but not massively so. Looks like it cuts out when it hits 740 bar. The sensor / FPR could be shitting the bed at the higher pressure value and dropping to zero so the ECU shuts the injection down immediately.

It's always hard to diagnose a fault over the internet but if I had to place a bet, I'd try a replacement FPR.

There's a bit of effort to get at it, but short of recording live data and pinpointing exactly what it does, then it's a starting point if you're otherwise stumped, to get the fuel pressure regulator / sensor unit changed. It screws into the fuel rail on the back of the engine. Needs the air filter, battery, battery tray and a few harness clips removed to get at it.

I never advocate playing parts darts, or throwing bits at a car hoping to fix something but the fault codes and the shutting down at 740 bar (which is less than half the max range) is a bit of a red flag for me.

Hi guys.

I've  bought a new FRP sensor and I've come my way to dismount the old FRP sensor.
They are not identical.. I'm not sure if the new one that I got will fit in my car.
The whole OEM system and parts numbers and all that is confusing to me, so I'm not really sure how to find out if the new sensor will fit my car.

Maybe some of you can help me find out if the sensor will fit my car?
