Tyre pressure sensing
#1
How does the tyre pressure warning system work?  I ask because when I fit my Peugeot alloys I don't want to be faced with warning lights or whatever on the dash.

Some have sensors in the tyre valve and some calculate the radius of the wheel through the ABS .

If the tyre is down it acts like a smaller wheel and so more turns per mile than a fully inflated wheel/tyre.
The ABS can sense this. (I believe )

Yes I had ABS sensing on some of my Suzukis.  It is a better system.  I think Citroen use the other type that use batteries and are attached to the valve but I am not sure if my 2013 has any type.

I could do with being able to override the system.

My 2017 allegedly has a TPMS, and when I had the tyres changed recently I asked about the valves/sensors and they said there weren't any, they were just normal valves. So, either it uses the ABS system to work it out, or it is missing the sensors!?

As far as I can tell it was on the original tyres/wheels and I was the first person to change them. Huh

This exactly why I have put this question on here.  Obviously ABS monitoring makes sense in view of the fact ABS is there already but I do not (or did not) intend to remove the tyres from the steelies so I won't really get to know.

So today I watched the sequence of ignition start up and I saw nothing of a tyre pressure check icon.  Does the TPMS warning light go through a check on starting up?

All our K9 Berlingos have ABS based pressure monitoring systems.

That is the best system.  Mine is a B9.

If it is an ABS system, why is there a sequence to reset pressures in the info menu? Surely as long as both tyres on the same axle had similar pressure, then the ABS sensing would be happy.

I am starting to think the only way I can establish if I have TPMS is to slightly deflate a tyre.
