Evening all. We acquired our berlingo a month or so ago and since then I've been a reader of the forum rather than a contributor. It's a great place with tonnes of info and great people by the looks of it so I decided to pay back.
Our multispace (5 glass panel roof) was suffering from a leaky roof, dripping from the interior, sun visors, A pillars. Upon inspection I discovered the original seals were very hard and someone attempted sealing in the past, very poorly.
I contacted UK Sealants for some advice as the range of available products is just overwhelming, I also wanted to find out what the real difference is between PU and MS Polymer, as I was getting an impression PU was slowly becoming a thing of the past. A very helpful chap at UK Sealants confirmed while PU sealants are great, MS Polymers have improved greatly over the years and recommended Soudaseal HS270. UV resistant MS polymer sealant adhesive, comes in various colours- just what I needed. 7 quid per tube, widely used by automotive and marine and building sector, so I ordered 5 tubes in black. Just sounded like such a great alternative to Sika products which are not UV resistant, mainly available in white and so much dearer.
I then removed the old seals- the big one around the whole glass fibre panel and the 5 small ones around the glass panels. I dried the joints with paper towels and air compressor and degreased with methylated spirit. Then, I sealed everything and finished with a sealant smoothing tool with a rubber blade. Looks great, not a drop of water inside for the last 4 weeks.
Hope some find it useful as I know its a common problem. Any question just let me know.
