I never realised they did that field gun thing, looks hard work.
I think Health & Safety finally killed it in 1999.
Crazy to watch though.
Yep tiniest 4mm cut in the gaiter, in the flexiest bit, so glue will be defeated.
Won't take too long. (Ha! Bloody Ha!)
Undo driveshaft nut, undo boot clips, undo ball joint, turn to left,
wiggle to release shaft, pull outer shaft out of the cup of the inner shaft (it's only the boot that holds them together)
so I don't have to faff about with the gearbox oil or intermediate bearing. Etc.
Haynes will have it's own opinion, often best ignored.

Just done the poxy thing.
All actually went to plan, sort of.
except...................
those Citroen clips on the genuine PSA new boot I managed to get for a tenner.
What a ballache they were.
Anyway, the neighbours will be enjoying fielding questions on various new words their kids have heard today.

And there is engine oil leaking out of the bell housing.
First time I've had an oil seal I've put in go bad.
She has had her chance, so a dignified decline will be in order,
as I've fallen out with the damn thing.

Two Years & 30,000 miles later & .........................................
Main seal oil leak stopped after a few days. No oil leaks whatever,
£55 chinesium turbo cartridge, still working very fine,
clutch judder improved with one of those forked engine mounts.
injector seals behaving, with an annual (gentle!) nip up of the bolts.
So it's not all doom & gloom.
In fact, these are a lot less hassle than German VAG stuff.
