Radio Code.. Eurovox cassette player
#1
Hi all,

I have just put a new battery in my M49 and now the factory tape player is asking for a code.. as if anyone is going to steal the tape player from a 2001 Berlingo.

Anyway, is there a way to get this code (apart from contacting the dealer) ?

I've attached some photos of the unit, and the 2 stickers on it.

Should be nice and easy this one. You have two options.

1. Jump back to 2001 and see if the code card appears in the glovebox beside the handbook (was supplied with it when new) - at this point, your factory tape player is actually worth a few bob!

2. Enter the last (5?) Digits of your VIN number - may be 4, may be 6...can't remember but I think it shows how many digits when you try to enter them. The last two double buttons are 7-8 and 9-0

(Option two is my preference)  Big Grin

Well done if it works Smile . . .  the few I have done have never been that easy . . .  years back I had to remove the EEPROM and read it to get the code for my mates Peugeot.

I know a lot of the older Renault units can be decoded from the serial number, there's lists online.

The last two 'double buttons' don't seem to do anything.. the others (1 through 6) do though... but it cant be my VIN as that has higher numbers in it.

Ah was worth a try. I did read somewhere they used that system at one point. Let me have another look then.

Eurovox guide:

Why is my radio not working after the battery was disconnected/replaced?
The radio requires a security code to be entered. (also known as PIN number). A security code is either 4 or 6 numbers long for most of Eurovox Units.

How can I obtain my security code?
Download the Security Code Request form located in the Downloads section. Fill it out and send it in via fax or email with proof and payment. The serial number & model number of the piece of Eurovox equipment is essential. A new security code card will then be mailed to you and your details will be registered in our database.

Why does Eurovox charge for supplying a security code?
Security and administrative reasons. We enter your details in our database so if you lose it again you only have to identify yourself and give the serial number and we will give you the security code again, we also send you a new code card.

How do I enter my security code to my Eurovox radio/cassette/CD Unit?
Refer to the owner's manual of your equipment. Turn ignition key to 'Accessories' & a number '1' or code '1' or similar will appear. Press corresponding preset buttons as you read you security code. If you have a 6 digit security code, the display will count the preset buttons pressed. i.e. display will show '1' the '2' then '3' & so on up to '6' regardless of which number is pressed. If the security code is correct, the radio will turn on. If the security code is incorrect, the display will show '2' or 'code 2' or similar. After 3 incorrect attempts, the radio will go into 'lockout mode'.

Why has my radio got horizontal lines on the display & is not responding to any buttons?
The radio has had 3 incorrect security codes entered & is now in lockout mode. For recent model radio's leave 1 hour (some radio's require ignition key to be on accessories). For older model radio's, remove power to radio by either unplugging radio or disconnecting the negative lead on the battery for 1 hour.

My radio will not accept my security code?
(1) This radio may have been replaced and now requires a different security code
(2)The security code you have been supplied is wrong.
(3)This radio has an internal fault. To check if radio works there is a temporary test code '1111' or '111111' can be used for most of Eurovox Radio. This only lasts for approx 3 minutes.

Sorry mate, looks like JJ9 was spot on, that trick only works on the later Clarion units between M59 and the B9 coming out. Unless you want to pay for a code, I'd get a new stereo first.

To be honest, I contacted Citroen and they are stuffing around, so I ordered a new stereo online last night.. it will arrive in a few days, and I will put this tape player away for another time (if Citroen get back to me).

LOL, so Citroen got back to me.. they want me to take the car to the dealership (thats a $130 return barge fare away -- I live on an island) and they want a $220 service fee, to get the code.

My response was pretty 'colourful'.
