Hi guys, I'd normally drop my van straight down to the garage for work, however every garage seems to booked up until after christmas! I topped up with diesel last week and the 'Engine Fault - Repair Needed' Flashed Up straight after, van starts fine, however it just doesnt have any power when trying to accelerate. My friend plugged in his Code Reader and it's not coming up with anything at all... Have changed the air filter, aswell as the fuel filter and still no luck. Has anyone else had the issue of having the fault come up but no fault code being produced?
Note, the code only comes up after around 20 seconds of having turned the key in the ignition, regardless of whether or not i start it up. If i drive it within that 20(ish) second period, the car accelerates fine and pulls as normal, and loses power as soon as the fault flashes up again... Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!

Welcome.
It sounds like your engine is going into Limp Mode in order to minimise any possible damage. The delay before the message will probably be the ECU doing some checks. It's really odd that there are no codes though. Is it certain that the code reader works? Is the reader connected to a phone app? Have / can you try reading codes when the engine is running and the error message is showing?
Beyond a code reader, the next step would be running a scan with the official Diagbox software which will show all faults including those that are not just related to the engine.

My 2017 van does not work with the generic code readers @
cancunia, tried several of the ones I have and none work. Even the Foxwell NT530 which cost a fortune doesn't talk to the engine ECU. (EDC17Cxx) so I'm not surprised at no codes. The only thing that works is Citroen Diagbox.

Could be a de-pollution fault like the Adblue injector or pump, Eolys system, etc. When it happens after refuelling it's usually these systems.
You could have hit the 100k miles point, or carried out the max number of refuels to trigger the DPF limit warning. What exact year and model is it and how many miles had it done?

I'm surprised that generic code readers don't work on later vehicles, that sounds like it's breaking some standards somewhere?
As you say, the actual fault does sound like it's something to do with the DPF or Anti-Pollution systems.
Good luck with the Diagbox scan.
