[Transmission] Dual mass flywheel or solid?
#1
Good evening all. I'm thinking or replacing the clutch in my 2006 Multispace 1.6hdi just after Christmas. The more I read the more confused I am in regards to whether its a dmf or a solid flywheel. The majority of info on this forum suggests it's solid, motorfactors list dual mass based on the reg. Could someone please explain how I could check this without taking the gearbox out. Any help will be much appreciated, thanks.

If you PM me with your VIN or post your VIN here, I can take a look in ServiceBox and see what it says. It's not always 100% but it may help.

AFAIK the m59 diesels were all solid flywheel. (2.0 & 1.6 HDi)

I believe the first DMF was on the B9 110 hp engine.

I think you're right about that, I'll take a look later to see what ServiceBox says when the VIN arrives.

No promises but ....

From what I can tell it's a solid flywheel part number 0532N0.

As @jj9 noted above, it's almost certain to be the case.

Have a look on the parts in motion website and put your reg in there. If they send you the wrong thing, they can replace it for you..

Thank you Cancunia.

According to parts in motion it is a dmf, they list a conversion kit to solid.

Interesting!

ServiceBox is not always correct, but then again, nor are the motor factors. One option is to give PiM a call and say that it may not be a DMF and would they replace whatever you buy from them FoC if they're wrong. There's a chance you'll loose a couple of days that way but if they agree, you'll at least be covered.
I suggested PiM as I've always had good service from them & reasonable prices.
