BSI reset query
#1
Just wondering if anyone could help with some information please.

Please excuse my ignorance in the first instance for asking this question but I have just acquired a 2009 Citroen Nemo 1.4 diesel Multispace to replace my old faithful Berlingo Van. Been trawling through various topics over the last couple of days and recall reading somewhere that the BSI can only be reset around 8 times.

Hoping to never need to carry out this but trying to prepare myself for all eventualities because my next query is being a second hand vehicle I obviously don`t know if the BSI reset has been carried out on this car previously or how many times.

Would be grateful if somebody could confirm the details Wink

I am not a Nemo expert at all, but I do not think the 8 times or any X number of times for the BSI reset is a thing at all. Somewhat similar to saying you can only restart your computer 8 times and that's that. You can reset your BSI as many times as you want.

There's a software reset for an electrical trip relay in the BSI but that's a separate thing from the usual reset we talk about on here. I think @Buki posted that procedure once and it is restricted but it resets an overload fault relay inside the BSI and can only be done a limited amount of times.

Not to be confused with the regular BSI reset or reboot (to properly name it) which can, as @saskak says, be done as many times as you like.

You won't be able to see the number of resets on your vehicle (the BSI does keep count) without DiagBox and on the Nemo you need a special extra adaptor as it used a Fiat engine and not a Citroen one.
