EGR delete procedure, 2.0hdi

Hello all,
With an EGR deleted and blanking plates fitted, what else needs to be done? Does the vacuum pipe need plugging at EGR end? What about the rocker cover breather hose that goes into the air intake? Does that need blocking or disconnecting too?
With the MAF connected, I get no EML but sudden loss and gain of what appears to be fuel starvation when going along in gear. Not all the time, but intermittent.
Unplug the MAF and it runs lovely, but EML comes on.
Anyone have any advice on the vacuum operated EGR delete and blanking?

On my 2.0Hdi I unplugged the vacuum line to the EGR and plugged it and also disconnected the solenoid. Didn't bother blanking it.

Been fine for 10k miles - no EML.
My MAF was initially dead when I bought the car - the default fuelling map over fuels slightly. The exhaust was hazy in following cars headlights, and fuel economy wasn't brilliant. Otherwise drove fine.
A new OEM MAF fixed the smoky exhaust and improved economy, engine power dropped slightly as it was now fuelling less.
