Cabin Blower /No go
#1
Hi all, I would be very grateful for any advice on this. I have a 2010 xtr 1.6 diesel, no shop manual or wiring diagram as yet.  The fan motor brushes had seized in their holders, now cleaned & oiled, it goes fine on the bench ,but there is no power in the car on any setting. Fuse F11, checked, it has power when the engines running. I,ve found there is no power into Terminal 30 on the relay socket, there is power to 86 . Where is t30  fed from ? which of the 2 circuits for the relay is  protected by F11, not the larger one I guess. I can see there are more fuses hiding under the fuse box ,but how do you get at them? Relay tests ok!

I take it you mean the internal fan blower not working on any of the four settings? The culprit for this is normally the resistor pack, which is a relatively cheap and easy fix. There happens to be another recent thread about the fan not working.

Resister pack blown situated next to the blower motor one bolt secures the pack about £17 off eBay. As its a common component you probably can get from any good motor factors bit fiddly to do should take about 10 minutes.

Terminal 30 is supplied by F11, however F11 supplies 12v to a relay which is in the under bonnet fuse box, its a sealed unit so nothing can be done with it.
The supply then continues from this built in relay to the main air blower relay.

I had the same fault on my 2013 model and had to have a new under bonnet fuse box.

F11 protects the coil circuit in the relay.

There is a main fuse under the bonnet fusebox, MF1, I think this supplies terminal 86

Take the top tray off the fusebox and swing out. The Masterfuses are underneath.

Hard to find replacements though. The pic below is a C3 but same setup.

B9 Heater Blower: ISSUE

I am stumped. I have checked the following:
- fuses (in the glove box and under the hood)
- relay (clicking on as it should
- heat resistor changed (currently dangling but connected)
- power to the fan blower (with a multimeter) shows no power
- heating element heats up as it should
- fan does not work on any setting.

I tested power to the fan on a friend's multispace and its reading 14volts
what could the problem be. All wiring looks in tack and not tamped with?

what could it be...

Have you changed the relay? Clicking is no guarantee of working. Also the various types of AC or heating panel have different circuits. Hard to say - you may have to take it to an auto electrician.

Also did you swing out and test the Masterfuses MF1?

I had a similar problem and tracked it down to the master fuses - the connectors were a bit corroded on all of them. I seem to remember tracking it down by supplying 12v to the underbonnet relay (not the glovebox one). Cleaned them carefully and reseated the fuses. Suddenly there's power to the blower!
