Think you need some sort of diagnostic for error codes. If it’s driving ok fit the new part and see if there is any change, if not diagnostic is the only way forward that I can think of.

As per the handbook, a yellow warning triangle that stays on is an unspecified "major" fault. One that goes off quickly is a minor fault.
Needs a diagnostic. But...see below, and the manual is attached...the fault will be logged in the display screen menu / fault log on-board, read the manual for how to access it (chapter 4). That way you can see the error for yourself before going to the garage. Use the stereo / steering wheel controls / stalk to navigate the fault menu.

Thanks.
I'm probably being stupid but I can't find any relevant instructions in Chapter 4. Is there a specific page I should look at?
Something I noticed today as I wasn't driving and could look at the "screen" is that it briefly displayed a message "Fault" "Engine" when the light came on.

Ok, so to read the fault log which may not show anything, select "diagnostics" in the trip computer for an indication of the problem.
Also the triangle can come on if the service interval has been exceeded. What mileage does the SI show when the ignition is turned on, in the square display below the fuel and temp gauges?
If none of this is hitting home then you will have to bite the bullet and take it to a garage for diagnostics.
With nothing else to go on, we're not going to solve this in a forum from just a general warning light which could be used for anything at all.

An interesting morning at the dealers.
I arrived early and explained the problem to one of the mechanics.
Unfortunately there was an issue with the loan car and they said if I could wait they'd fit the resistor (I'd taken it with me) and I'd have to come back for the warning light.
Resistor fitted and I arranged another visit.
20 mile drive back home. Fan now working but NO warning light... (it was on all the way over to the dealers)
Sounds good, fingers crossed for you that it's resolved.
