Adding an original rear parking sensor bumper

Hi All,

I see some models came with rear parking sensor. Mine didn't. How complex would it be to swap in an original bumper that came with rear parking? I'm guessing the system to "beep" will need to be transferred over too?

Would it be easier perhaps to fit one of those camera's that replace the top rear brake light?

Although I think the loom will already be in-situ, it is not just the case of acquiring a bumper with the sensors and connecting it. The system, I believe, has to be 'enabled' through the BSI with the use of a laptop and the required software, which if you went to a dealer would probably cost you £££

I've got to ask though, yes they can be useful in certain situations but do you feel you really need a rear parking sensor, after all the rear of the vehicle is only about 6" back from the rear door, so pretty easy to judge by just looking over your shoulder   

I know it's always nice to get a 'new' vehicle exactly the way you want it but you have to look at the outlay on what I think you stated in one of your other posts is a fairly high mileage cheap vehicle you've just acquired.

I'm still at the stage it's a all a fun toy, so excited to play a little with it.

You're absolutely right about getting used to parking it, probably bigger fish to fry.

Cambelt is top of the list.
