Hi all,
In case you want to check the condition of the PCV rubber membrane or extend the valve spring for example, here is how I did it without breaking a single plastic bit: https://youtu.be/imxmg9z0rn4
To be honest, I was chuffed with myself. Last time I did this, I broke all possible plastic bits and had to use a replacement cap. Not that you can just buy the rubber membrane on its own, usually it comes with the cap as well, but still.
You need a zip tie. File one of the edges with a knife or stanley knife, so one of the edges is tapered. Slot the zip tie underneath all the plastic tabs of the PCV valve and pull on the zip tie with some sort of a small hook so that the zip tie is underneath all the tabs. Depending on the thickness of the zip tie, the PCV valve will pop out or slight pull on the tabs will release it.
