Front Indicator not working
#1
Hi All,
I'm having a problem with my front o/s indicator. It suddenly stopped working! I though no problem, the bulb's just probably blown, took it out, checked seemed ok, but I thought maybe it's broke I just cant see it?
So off I trot to halfords bought a new set of indicator bulbs, put one in, didn't fix it! check all connections, cleaned of the metal plates where the bulb connects to the holder, still nothing, tried the other new bulb, nope!
Thought it might be a fuse? but then wouldn't all the indicators not work? So whats wrong?

All and any help greatly received

I think you may find them fused separately LH & RH as Cit. seem to do this a lot but I have an '06Mk.II so
can't be too sure about your's.

Thanks Ol'Jeffers, I think your right, after looking in my handbook LH & RH are fused separately, but I now can't find the fuse location for direction indicators, I'll just have to run through them all! Rustscrat, all the other lights are working as I forgot to mention in my earlier post, that was one of earlier diagnostic tests!

The indicators on mine are fed out of the Bsi unit, and at the moment I can't allocate a fuse for these.

Can you give us the model & year of your van?

Information
Hi, hope I've got this right.
It appears that from 2001/2002 the indicators are fed electronically direct from the BSI.
In the repair procedures it recommends disconnecting the battery before changing the lamps.
So with a bit of luck if you do a BSI Shutdown / Reboot procedure you might find that it comes back to life. See link.

When you've got the battery disconnected, double check that the bulb is seated properly and that it is not a duff new one. Confusedillyme:

Don't forget to let us know if it cures it.

A further thought, is it a standard indicator bulb or is it one of the offset pin types?? and have you got the right replacement???

I had a fault with the f/ns indicator . between the bulb holder and the wiring loom plug, the pins had corroded. still looking for wiring loom plug that I can splice in.

Hi, sorry, not been well the last week, but now feeling better so, I tried what you suggested Rustscrat, but it didn't make the indicator spring into life:-(, but it did make me realise that my battery was in need of some TLC! sorted that out and tried again, but still no joy. Hi andy-womble yes it's the right replacement, it's an offset pin type and thats what I've replaced it with, the normal type wouldn't fit in:-) So brodfather are you saying the corrosion is in the headlight unit between the bulb mounting and the multi-plug? The connection on the multi-plug seems fine as all the other things it attaches to are working, i.e. front headlight & sidelight.
