Turn signal and headlights short circuit
#1
Berlingo Multispace 2007 80kW

I've been dealing with an issue regarding the turn signal.. It won't function when the dashboard lights are on, when it's off it works as if nothing is wrong, left right turn signal works.. yet the other issue is that the lights switch from park to headlights automatically, when it should be on park lights.. if rotate the lights switch rapidly between the modes, it somehow fixes itself for a time, could it be a cold joint somewhere or dust? where should I start looking for the issue? (Note: flatmate says that the switch it self is giving her static, when switching between modes?)

It is the switch column itself as part of the COM2000 unit. It is very difficult to open the switch and do something about the metal contacts inside. You need to replace the whole switch or the com2000 unit. In any case you need to remove the air bag, steering wheel to get the COM2000 unit and then get the switch out of the unit. As far as I know you cannot remove just the switch column only. This was my thread for the problems with my Peugeot 307 (same COM2000 unit): https://www.berlingoforum.com/thread-20412.html

Got it fixed by buying a second hand unit, but of course you do not have a guarantee that it will not be faulty as well.

Com2000 switches are like black magic, so many little things to go wrong. Does the switch itself feel loose ? Google com2000 repair and there are videos on how to get it apart showing the parts that wear out.
So where does this bit go then ?

They can be opened and fixed, but rather tricky. Once I bought a replacement com2000 unit with all the stalks I figured how to open them, to be honest it was a while ago and not too sure how to do it now. One of the metal contacts was bent and I suspect that was the reason for my intermittent headlights. It was somewhat making a shortcut with one of the contacts or signal that was not what was expected and the BSI was misinterpreting the signal. I have no idea how one of the contacts was completely bent.

I see, so I'll either have to order the spare "Com2000" part, or try to clean it and observe the situation on the old one..

Thank you everyone for the replies!

It has to be the same number on the old COM2000 unit, otherwise it might not work.
