steam out dashboard
#1
morning all
whilst driving today i had steam coming out the top vent on the dash, the engine was warm but i had not yet put the fan on on, when i put the fan on more steam came out and i got that damp smell, i presumed it was the heater matrix or something to do with the heater, i turned the fan off and carried on for about half an hour, after that i kept turning the fan on to see if it happened again which it did`nt, lost no water and did`nt happen again, anyone got any ideas.
Cheers

Possibly some water got in from outside, rain etc, and has evaporated over the heater core?. Check floor and carpets in footwells for damp/wetness.

Hi, if it was a sweet smell I would say the matrix. Sad
Are you getting a constant misty screen?

This is the sort of problem which illustrates the benefit of flushing the cooling system every couple of years.
Despite being a 'sealed' system crud does build up and if it causes a blockage then often the
matrix is over-pressurised which can cause a leak either in the core or around the hose joints.

Been in the garage today, all they could find was a small leak on the radiator, no leaks around the heater. fingers crossed thats the end of that but knowing my luck its not!
Thanks for you help
