Hi. I have a 1997 1.9 diesel berlingo. What would cause the heater to stop blowing hot and the temperature light to come on. Checked coolant and that's fine.
Thanks.

Dead water pump?? No water circulating thru heater matrix - less/no heat. Engine would get hot. Or thermostat stuck closed? Just guessing

Hi, thanks for replies. Checked coolant in reservoir and it's fine. The 2 hoses at back of engine are warm at best. Undone the bleed on these and there was coolant there. The big hose that goes to top of rad is really hot and I get heat in the rad. Temp gage gets just into the red area but not all the time.
Phoned a garage and they straight away said head gasket.

Unlikely to be the head gasket if it isn't using water.
Cool pipes here, hot pipes there, either a blockage or the stat.
At a guess

I'd go for a faulty thermostat too. Cheap to test - remove it and see if the problem disappears.
